Lloyd Loom Furniture – Why we love it!

Vincent Sheppard Lloyd Loom Joe Lounge Chair
Lloyd Loom is the most beautiful furniture, 100% manufactured in England. Still making by hand the finest Lloyd Loom furniture and using techniques learnt in the 1930s, the unique twisted paper and wire weave is made on their looms, and they use the finest steam-bent beech wood for their frames.

With its reputation for comfort, strength and longevity, Lloyd Loom furniture sits in many of the finest hotels and restaurants around the world. When you invest in Lloyd Loom for your home you are buying an antique of the future.

The legendary Lloyd Loom process was invented in 1917 by the American Marshall B. Lloyd, who twisted kraft paper round a metal wire, placed the paper threads on a loom and wove them into what was to become the traditional Lloyd Loom fabric.

Lloyd Loom chairs quickly became very popular in America and in 1921; Marshall B. Lloyd sold his patent to an English manufacturer, which used Lloyd Loom in an original manner to create a collection of typical English furniture.

The Lloyd Loom weave is the up to the minute choice for dining chairs. The clean lines give a classic yet contemporary elegance, whilst the natural weave confers a relaxed mood.

Until the middle of the last century nearly every house had its comfortable Lloyd Loom chair in the bedroom and, where size allows, the bathroom. This is becoming the norm again, both at home and within the hospitality trade. What could be more welcoming and nostalgic?
