Design a country-inspired living room

If you live in a classic, country cottage then you are likely to be someone who loves rustic, homely interior design. However, country-inspired decor is not necessarily restricted to homes situated in amongst the fields and farmland; many people who live in the busy city pine for the great outdoors and would like to introduce a traditional, cosy atmosphere into their city home.

There are a few straightforward but vital things that should be present for any country-style home:

Choosing the right furniture

Probably the most important part of creating a rustic- country-inspired room is purchasing the right furniture.

Tetrad sofas are a brilliant example of the style needed. They look rustic but with a modern twist. The classic scrolled arms are synonymous with the style of sofa found in stately homes up and down the country; but the materials used to make them are very much the best of modern manufacturing.
Sofas such as these provide comfort to a family as well as complementing the overall classic, country feel.

Colours

A country home should be filled with different shades of brown, cream, maroon, and dark green – all of which connote the outdoors which you are trying to emulate within your home.
As you can see from the sofas above, you should add cushions (2 or more) for a snug and warm ambience.

As the rustic theme is all about bringing the outdoors indoors, it is important to have lots of wood and greenery within the room. A wooden floor is a must-have to achieve the overall look but you can also incorporate it through an oak table, corner tables, ornaments, and picture frames, and plenty of plants are well suited to this style as well.

Wallpaper

As the word “rustic” suggests, it is all about using natural materials but also about using traditional methods of decorating, hence why a lot of people like to incorporate wallpaper into the design. A busy wallpaper (probably filled with different shades of flowers) is particularly rustic, but if used on every wall can make a room look smaller. Instead, perhaps just decorate one wall with it.
